I wonder...

Scene 1:

What will you do when you see a tear on a stuff toy? Needle and thread? Well, the first thing that came to darling's mind was to bring out my doctor's kit and give barney a checkup.

LOL...we were playing with barney when darling noticed a hole on barney's back.

Darling: "Oh nooooo....holeeeeeee".
Mummy: "So how? Barney pain pain?"
Darling: *walk away and return with her doctor's kit. Out came the stethoscope, syringe, thermometer, medicine*
Mummy: *stunned*

Guess kids of my age really do things that is beyond explaination. Another incident to share:

Scene 2:

My wardrobe has several levels:
Level 1 is where I put my home clothes and
Level 2 is for my school uniform and hanky.

One day, I opened my wardrobe doors, I noticed something amiss when I saw my hanky at level 1. I quickly moved my hanky back to level 2 and closed the wardrobe doors. My mummy was dumbfolded seeing this act. Have you ever wonder how a 22 months old kid an be so fussy???? LOL...

1st School Excursion

Darling's first excursion to Sentosa was quite a memorable one; more for mummy i think. From the time she signed the consent form, to the day that I was sent to school, she has been worrying sick. LOL...

Let me tell you the preparation work that she did. She put a luggage tag on my backpack. This luggage tag has my name on it, and mummy's handphone number. Hahaha, she was worried that darling might get lost in Sentosa.

In my backpack, we have a small snack pack, insect repellent, sunblock, raincoat and an Odyssey hat. Quite a lot of things right? My mummy ensures her darling's needs are all taken care of. Heee...

Picture took by teachers..

Mummy fetched darling from school today. Mummy get to see how cute darling was dozing off on the bus. With backpack on my back, water bottle sling across my shoulders, seat belt fasten, darling was rocking from side to side. The moment I saw mummy, I went "wuahhhhhh"....LOL....

Word of the day - Wall

Darling has picked up lots of words since a couple of months back. I am able to say these words:

No
Ang = Yes
Eat
Go
Egg
More
There
Book
Fan
Cup
Up
Pack = Bagpack
Leg
Bra
Bra = Umbrella

Hat
Bao Bao = Carrying
Na = Banana
No more
Oh no
Yeah
Hug
Sit
Floor
Hold
Eeee = Please
One more
Eat
Star
Are

(LOL, mummy lost count liao)

Anyway, every time mummy heard a new word of the day, she will go..."WOW...darling is so clever, my girl is so smart...mummy love love..."

See, I can even recite her lines...LOL....that's my mummy. Not too sure if CC helps or it is time that darling starts to say a word or two, but I guess it is a happy moment for us all, daddy, mummy, me and aunty ruby when a new word pops up.

As you know, we have daily home activities. From Letter of the week, numbers, hands-eyes coordination, patterns, opposites, etc...to water play/sandplay/painting...

Tonight, we had a camping theme, so we "pitched" a tent in my bedroom and played with touchlight. I asked mummy to shine the light on the WALL. It was the first time mummy heard this. Impressed, excited and surprised was she. Yelling and screaming and hugging with joy as usual. LOL...

Can't wait to master the ability to make sentences. I think alot of people are waiting patiently for this moment to arrive..

Car Wash

What a better way to teach your kid about car wash by washing his/her toycar?
Mummy was feeling slightly better today. So we had a role play game where mummy was driving her car up to the carwash station. Darling will be washing her car...

We need sponge and soapy water ...First, soak your sponge with lots of soapy water...

Next, you wash the car seat...

Followed by the back wheels...

And then, front wheels...

When you are done, use clean water to spray off the soap...

Give it a thorough wash...and then u're done....

Mummy bought darling a new swimsuit...time to hit the poool....LOL....not the pool yet...

Yesterday, we were playing the sorting land animals and sea animals. To make the game more real, mummy created blue sea for darling...

Sharks belong in the blue ocean...

Nicole had a fall!

Boooo hoooo...darling had a great fall at childcare today. At around 1045am, mummy received a call from Teacher Monica to learn about darling's fall. Mummy was so panicky and worried. Luckily, mummy was resting at home these 2 days, as she has fallen sick (caught the flu bug from darling). Immediately, she rushed to the school to take a look at darling.

Ohhhh noooo...there were bruises on my right eyebrow...mummy was furiously mad...She learnt that darling has slipped while climbing up the stairs at the playground. So much for having a 1:4 teacher: student ratio. Accidents like this still happened.

So poor thing. Hope darling recovered soon.

Sea Animals or Land Animals??

It is never too early to teach kids about things. Mummy taught darling about land and sea animals. After 2 rounds of practise, darling already knows that Dinos are land animals and sharks are sea creatures.

It was fun and I requested mummy to do 2nd round.

Of course, there were times when I hestitated and pondered for awhile. Mummy assisted darling along the way.

Nice game...mummies out there should try too...

My Happy Family Dollhouse

While I was having my dinner, daddy came back home with something for darling. It's a dollhouse....

Yeah, my very first dollhouse...

Cant wait to play with mummy...

Childcare Journey

Since 16th July 2009, Darling has started attending childcare @ The Odyssey . It has been quite a bumpy journey I must say.

After attending 2 weeks of cc, darling developed bronchitts and was sick for a week or so. Was on nebulizer for 3 weeks. Mummy decided to avoid cc for a month after heeding advice from the GP.

Went back to cc on 2nd Sept. After another 2 weeks of cc, darling was sick again. According to the PD, this is normal as darling is exposed to germs and the body is trying to adjust to it. Darling has been so strong and healthy since birth till 18 months, guess it is something new to mummy to experience a sick baby that often.

After a week of rest, mummy decided to let darling attend the class alone. That is, without aunty ruby. Aunty Ruby has been attending the class with darling all these while, because darling is clingy. And mummy felt heartpain to have a grumpy and crying baby.

So 1st week of school alone was a bad experience for all of us. This includes daddy, mummy, aunty ruby and myself.

Daddy is heartpain to see a upset darling. Mummy and aunty ruby took turns to tend to a crying and traumatized baby. And darling is obviously upset with mummy for sending me to school.

But we are all glad that darling is quite adaptive. After a week of school alone, darling is improving and adjusting well each day.

These are the pics mummy took at week 2 of school alone.

Day 1 - Obviously a sulking baby...and angry with mummy...darling kept ignoring mummy...mummy was upset...

Day 3 - slight improvement...no cries but was still abit "angry" with mummy....

Day 5 - No more cries and put on a smile or two whenever mummy talks to me...This makes mummy happy...

It has not been easy for all of us. But this is a path that most have to go through. We take it with a pitch of salt and move on. Some lucky parents do not have to go through this, bless you. For those who have the same experience, our advice is "bite the bullet" and dont give up. Kids have the nature ability to adapt. And they can adapt well.

All the cries and crankiness might just be an act, or a sign of protest. Observe your kid and take the cue, you know your child best and you will know when to pull the reign.

All these are part and parcel of motherhood. Let's share our experience and learn together. Don't forget to enjoy the journey along the way. Like my mummy did. LOL....

21 Months Old

Time flies. Darling is now 21 months old. I have come this far with a great list of accomplishments.

Top on the list is, I am diaper free (at home only). Have been roaming around the house in my undies only for the past few weeks. Another big accomplishment should be I am able to say a few alphabets and show mummy 1 and 2 using my fingers. The sign of 2 is pretty difficult i guess, but it is effortless for darling. Overall, I have a proud mum beaming with joy on these accomplishments I made.

Some pics we took today:

Oh ya, another big news. I got my personnal passport now!!!! Means I can TRAVEL le........YEAH....Hong Kong Disneyland, wait for me!!!!

A Big Sister

Good Morning to all. Saturday without JG seems abit weird for me and mummy. We were so used to going to JG lessons every saturday morning. Today, we did not go to JG because term 4 is only starting next week.

Well, still our saturdays will not be boring. Early in the morning, mummy and I played dressed up. Mummy tried to tie up my hairs in different styles.

Then we played "I spy". This time round, I am searching for letters

Next on the list is "Who is the big sister" role play. I get to be a big sister to this little baby. I had to bathe her.

Baby come, jie jie wash your hair...

Any resemblance?

Finally, we have a pic of mummy when she was a toddler. Just checked with grandma, mummy was 4 years old in this pic...

So what is the verdict? Any resemblance? First answer we got from daddy was a "shake on his head" and followed with a "not even close"! Mummy went "#$^!!#%!$!" LOL....

Next, we asked yiyi. Yiyi gave mummy a "ok lor...so so"...LOL

Let's wait and see. Few years later, let's compare again. Mummy will be digging for daddy's baby pic next...Hahahah....

Letter of the Week - A

We are starting our next round of alphabets learning. We are going to make a black Ant. Mummy prepared all the materials, and darling gets busy...

Viola, my black Ant.

1, 2, 3, 4, Hi-5! Okie okie, we went to watch Hi-5 concert. As some of you knows, mummy doesn't really like this new members of Hi-5. She still prefers Kathleen, Charlie, and the rest...

In the end, we decided to go because well, after all it's wat darling likes. Since darling loves watching Hi-5, so here we go...

Through this little exercise, I get to learn about more things such as footprints, owl, zip, etc... and also doing handicrafts like crown, guitar, magic wands, etc

As darling is now able to recognize some of them and say the sound of the letter, we are moving on to the next level. Stay tuned...
